We’re Off To A Spooky Start

Ah, yes — the time for ghoulish fun is fast-approaching. Now is the time that we start counting down the days until Christmas, at least that’s what the retailers would like you to do. But not me. I’m going to savor each holiday between now and then.

And to get things started that way, I wanted to make a temporary change to my header and schedule a few Halloween-related posts this month.

Halloween.comHalloween.com

I would love to be the one to say, “I own Halloween.com”. But alas, I was asleep at the wheel. This is a rather large resource for all things Halloween. It points you to games, costumes, screensavers, wallpaper, suppliers, and lots more. Yes, you could spend some time here.

Trick or Treat Smash

Trick or Treat SmashI haven’t posted about a game in quite a while. This one is a good one to break that dry spell. It’s like the game Bejeweled, but you work with candy corn, eyeballs, vampire teeth, plastic wrapped candy, and frogs by placing at least three in a row to make them go away. If you get lucky, you can get “super moves” where the objects will fall into place canceling themselves out. Cha-ching!

Pumpkin carving

Digital Pumpkin SimulatorWhat would Halloween be without the traditional carved pumpkin? Well, it would be a lot cleaner, that’s for sure, but nothing wrong with getting dirty for a good cause.

You can checkout some patterns here. But if you really want to avoid the mess, try this digital pumpkin carving simulator instead. Maybe you could print out your masterpiece and tape it to your door and no one would be the wiser. :)

Fun facts

Did you know that the largest pumpkin on record weighs in at 1,446 pounds? And speaking of pumpkins, orange ones that is, did you know that the word “orange” doesn’t rhyme with anything in the English language?

  1. Ah, such an awesome post for the season. Btw, love the header change. You’re making me more and more jealous as the days go on! ;)

    Shine on,
    Aaron

  2. @Aaron: Sounds like a classic case of banner envy. Sorry, dude. It’ll pass. I’ll find some way of making it up to you. LOL
And btw, has MBL helped you with the avatar thing yet?

  3. My wife is always playing puzzle games. Even my kids join in. She’s going to love this new one.

  4. Woah Mark! Kicka$$ new Halloween header! It’s one of my favorite…happenings of the year by far. Can’t wait ’till my kid is a little bit older so I can start to take him Trick-or-Treatin’!

  5. @Baron: I was hoping this would make it into the “Baron” household. :)

@Bush: thanks buddy! Yes, I know the feeling. Waiting for my kids to be older to do stuff is one of the joys of parenting…and then they get old enough and then you wonder where the time had gone.

  6. Hopefully by the time my kids are all grown up I’ll still have a friend around to get a beer with.
