Today Is The Last Day To Enter!

Just a friendly reminder that today is the last day you can enter my blog birthday contest. So far the response has been great. Thanks to everyone who has entered so far!

If you have been planning on entering, but just haven’t made the time to do so, here’s a recap of the ways you can enter and increase your chances to win 1,000 Entrecard credits and a blog review on MAMD:

  1. 5 entries for subscribing to my feed via email. (Comment on this post using the same address so that I can verify.) Subscribed already? Thank you! Just tell me in the comments.
  2. 4 entries for making a post about the contest on your blog linking back to this post. If you have more than one blog, that’s cool — you’ll get 4 entries per post per blog (only one post on each blog will be counted; be sure to leave a comment here telling me so with the links).
  3. If you like my blog, you can tell others by writing a recommendation on my profile at Entrecard. Doing so earns you 4 entries.
  4. Commenting on this post earns you 1 entry (only one comment per contestant excluding the comments you make informing me of other posts you’ve made or for subscribing)

I’ll pick a winner via random.org and announce who it is on the 21st. :wink:

  1. Well, I’d join. But then again, I’ve got no clue as to what this “Entrecard” thing is or what is it good for.

  2. I just subscribed to your e-mail feed.
    Now, when I can get the 1000 ecs :)

    Welcome to MeAndMyDrum! :) Entrecard is that ad you see in my sidebar, the one with “Get one” underneath it. It’s a way for bloggers to advertise for free their blogs. You earn credits each time you drop your “card” on other blogs. You can check out more here.

    @Juha
    Hehe, thanks for that and good luck! :)

  4. Hi Mark! I have read numerous articles saying it’s a mistake to put Entrecard and adsense on the same site because it will cause adsense to become “smartpriced” and render it worthless. Is that true? I’d like to use entrecard but I don’t want to mess up my blog’s main source of earning. I’m obviously not blogging to make money, but I do like want my host fees covered with what I do earn.

  5. Hey Mark,

    Hopefully just caught this in time. Happy Birthday.

    My blog post is here: http://www.therandomforest.info/2008/02/happy-birthday-mamd-only-few-hours-left.html

    I subscribed with the email: forest.parks@gmail.com

    Entrecard recomendation would have been done regardless of the competition.

    Oh and does this comment count…… Happy Birthday again.

    Wish me luck :)

    Mr. Bobby! Good to see you here!

    I haven’t read anything referencing concerns over Entrecard and AdSense, but I’m not denying those articles exist. Perhaps you could point me to a couple of them. Because the Entrecard ads are not paid links, I can’t see why Google would have a problem with them.

    @Forest
    You sure did, buddy! Wow, thanks for all the effort.

  7. Happy birthday to your blog!!!

    I know this is a day late, but that’s the story of my life. LOLOLOL

    Congrats on keeping this site up for the past year, and here’s to many more to come.

    LOL Thank you very very much! I hope you’re having a great week. ;)

  11. Mark,

    Congrats again on your anniversary! I don’t have an entrecard account, so you don’t need to enter me into the contest, but I just wanted to say congrats again. It is amazing how this blog has evolved over the past year (and especially in the past two months).

    Thank you, Kyle! I really appreciate the compliment. :)

  13. I think that entecard increases a blog’s bounce rate. I’m just wondering if 100 new visitors pop in for only a second, simply to drop a card, how good is the traffic? My adsense CTR is around 80% and I don’t want it getting low because it really can get you smart priced. Maybe I’m being paranoid! I actually joined, I just haven’t decided if I’m going to put it on my site. I’m so lazy - I do absolutely nothing to help my traffic - I guess I might one day…haha! :mrgreen:

  14. @Bobby
    Well, buddy, the way I look at it is there’s bound to be somebody in that traffic that’s going to stick around. Maybe I get a subscriber or maybe they just bookmark me, but it’s one more than I had beforehand. I agree the bounce rate could indeed grow. As for smartpricing, I don’t currently use AdSense (at least I think I got rid of those ads on this blog) only because they were irrelevant most of the time.

    But I would encourage you to give Entrecard a shot just to see how it works for you. And if it’s not traffic, then you could at least find some nice blogs that way.
