New Blog Promotion: Entrecard
My friend, John, of DNXpert, recently discovered something called Entrecard that I’m giving a try (look to the right sidebar). It’s an easy way to network with other bloggers and it’s free, too.
Just like in the offline world, you hand out business cards to those you meet. With Entrecard, it’s no different really. When you visit a blog that has the widget installed, you click on the “drop yours” button and your card is put in the blog owner’s queue for review.
After creating an account, you can either upload your own image or use one of the templates made available to you. As people drop their cards to you, you’ll find them all in your dashboard. This is the part I think the service could improve upon because it’s all just a jumble of cards in columns. I can see one column for those waiting for me to approve or reject (lots of them), and another that shows how the cards are queued up to display on my blog.
As you drop your card on other blogs, you earn credits with which you can use to purchase space on someone else’s blog.

Hi Mark,
Great to see you taking up Entrecard :). I think it’s a pretty cool concept, I signed up 5 days ago and I have so far received a little over 100 unique visitors.
I thought you made a good point about the columns with the various cards… they could use paging for example.
The other thing I didn’t like is that people can reject your ad purchase. As in the linkbait I made for shoemoney’s blog, he rejected my ad… and got annoyed that I wanted to place my ad on his page.
It will be interesting to see how they resolve a couple of these problems.

Hm. Hadn’t heard of this before, and it sounds like a grand idea! I will look into this today.
And btw - I don’t think I’ve said it before but I love your new header! You always manage to get good ones. (#):)

@John
I’m hopeful they’ll be responsive to comments from us users.
And thank you for bringing it to my attention.
@Bush
Thanks for the comment on the header, buddy! I think maybe one or two others have mentioned it. Actually, I scanned it in from a catalog and added a few snowflakes here and there.
@Mike
I think that would be a perfect place for it.

Kudos to you for taking the time to create a plugin. Can you explain how it differs from just entering the script into an established widget?
