Log In To Your Computer With A Smile
If you have a web cam and tired of entering your password every time you return to your computer, then you may want to take a look at something called Banana Security.
The software with a funny name stores a model of your face in binary format on your computer. As you sit in front of it, your web cam will scan your face. If you move away, your computer is locked. When you return, it scans your face again, checks it against the model, and if there’s a match, the computer unlocks itself.
The software is free and only for Windows (Mac version is coming soon).

Has anyone given this a try yet?

I haven’t - I don’t have a web cam.

Haha sounds interesting. Mark, you don’t have a web cam? So does that mean you’re shy like me?

shy like you?? Then he should own a broadcasting station
lol

You found me out. I’m a shy-guy deep down. Thankfully, I have these other voices in my head that can step in when needed.

I would like to give a try but waiting for VISTA version to be released

Wow, that is too awesome. I would try it but I don’t have a reason except for “that sounds so cool”. I don’t have a reason to keep other people off my computer, really. My laptop is not around anyone that I don’t want to be on it. And also, I can just envision things going wrong. However, that is pretty neat!

Yeah, I think it’s really more for the person at work who’s moving around a lot. I’m hopeful it has a backup method of logging in. What if it doesn’t recognize your face anymore or if a guy decides to shave his beard or something? Yikes!

Or what if you have an evil twin who’s hellbent on stealing your documents?
Seriously though, it’s a great innovation and we should start to see more of this kind of thing in coming years

Thanks for stopping by Andy.

Hahaha…that was funny
I think people are on to you, Brown
I have a web cam buried in my closet somewhere. I can’t be bothered to dig it out though. That would require moving away from the computer

Can’t wait for the mac version. I wonder if it will recognise my ever changing facial hair and unkempt hair style changes.
Do you reckon it would recognize you with a hangover too? Because if not that could be a problem
Mark | Jul 16, 2007 | Reply
Haha
Yeah, that would be a problem. Fortunately, I think it only looks at the structure of your face, not the color of your eyes during a hangover.

They should probably add scent detection too. For people who regularly have hangovers
