iReply: Still Going Strong

iReplyIt was June 30 that the iReply Revolution was born by myself, Mike (a.k.a. “Mr. FiveK”), and Brown Baron (a.k.a. “Shy-guy”). I gotta tell ya, it’s pretty cool to see blogger’s continue to join in.

Whenever I see a subscribed comment come my way telling me, “Hey, what a cool idea! I’ll be putting up my badge today!”, it causes me to smile.

What’s this revolution?
If this is the first time you’ve heard of iReply and wondering what it is, well it’s quite simple really. In fact, there’s no sign-up sheet and it’s free. All it is is a way of communicating to your readers that you will respond to their comments. Not every comment and no one’s keeping score. Heck, you don’t even have to post the badge on your blog if you don’t want to.

The lack of responses the three of us were getting when leaving comments on blogs got us to talking about it. It just seemed rude to be ignored that way. In real life, it’s considered rude, so why not blogging? Well, that’s because it’s no different.

Want to join?
The neat thing about this is that you may already be a member of the iReply Revolution if you’re already interacting with readers on your blog. So kudos to you!

If you would like to proudly display that fact, then you’re welcome to link to this badge. Or maybe one of these is to your liking if you want a more feminine touch (nod to Mike ;) ).

  1. I’m a proud member of the iReply movement. I’ve only got my badge posted on my Redhead Rants site, I practice the idea on all my blogs. I believe that anyone who takes the time to leave a viable comment deserves a response.

This idea was a stroke of genius.

  2. On behalf of the other guys and yours truly, thanks! :)

  3. All those hours “researching” browser games paid off

  4. “So, play time now, daddy? Huh?”

  5. “Researching”?????? :???:

    riiiiiiiight

  6. I’ve been receiving quite a few pingbacks the last couple weeks. It seems to have picked up steam again lately

Between that and the Schmooze I may have to change my name again soon to Mr. OneK…hehe ;P

  7. I’m only familiar with the I Follow campaign and only minimally at that. How do you see iReply as possibly being similar to the I Follow group?

    thanks.

  8. Okay now, Mr. 5K, let not get out of control.

That post of yours really does get a lot of action!

  9. Hi Robert, great to see you here!

Those are two totally separate things. The “I Follow” crowd (of which I’m also supporting) is about allowing links posted on a blog or site to follow where they’re pointing. It was something Google came up with to prevent the potential abuse of creating a massive amount of links to point to one’s blog with the intent of getting higher search engine rankings.

iReply, on the other hand, is simply a statement telling readers that you are more than a one-way street. :)
    Thank you for stopping by!

  10. While, I’ve always replied to comments, the button is great to let new readers know that up front.

As you say, it’s like chatting to someone. It’s a two way street. Quite a few readers have commented on the button and the movement (and I’ve replied - LOL). Thanks guys.

  11. Hi Yvonne, glad to know you’re part of the community! Thanks for stopping by. :)

  12. What Christine just said. ;)

And it’s been as good for me (on a different scale, I am only a modest mr. 60something-k) as it has been for you. Cigarette, anyone?

    Thanks, guys!

  13. @Jos: Glad to hear that!

  14. I joined the movement quite early and I am proud of the button to my blog and not surprisingly comments are up!

  15. Hi Jamaipanese, we appreciate your support!

  16. there was a lot of “reply” when this was posted on BAYB, it is very cool to see :)

  17. @Matthew: hehe…thanks buddy!

  18. Yeah, those guys are pretty freaking cool! I can’t stand leaving comments on blogs and have the author selectively not reply to me but then reply to other people. I want a reply! I think by not replying to your beloved commenters is a quick way to lose a reader!

  19. @Bobby: you understand! I have actually unsubscribed from blogs who don’t respond to my comments. And the sad thing is they’re actually pretty good blogs. I liken it to going into a store or restaurant. If the service is no good, I won’t stay a patron of it.
