Well, when I first started blogging a few years ago, just blogging was its own reward. But then I began to discover how I could help out with the bills more by building a stronger online presence and such. I’m a work in progress, but hopefully there’s time to earn a little extra cash before things go downhill.

Yes, lacking higher PR can definitely cause frustration on a number of levels for new bloggers. I had to wait three months for PPP to have my review blog age enough to be accepted, per their rules. I understand why they did it, but it was no less frustrating.

Plus, as you say, even for low PR blogs, you really got only the bottom of the barrel in the way of opps. Sometimes it was good just knowing that you were making a few bucks here and there, but after a while you start to wonder why you’re spending your time on such crappy opps.

Great post Mark! I just wish I could be interested in making money through blogging. It just doesn’t interest me as I already make good money. With the U.S. headed towards socialism and a government regulated Internet, it’s only a matter of time before it’s too expensive to be a viable source of income…haha

I subscribed to some of these sites when I started out blogging, but the number of opportunities for low PR blogs were so limited, that I gave up all together. Now my site has google visitors, and I do not want to make them angry

At first, I was excited about SocialSpark. I spent time making my profile look nice, propped people, added them as friends, and eagerly awaited the opportunities there.

Problem was that when the opps FINALLY did arrive (and there weren’t that many that did), they came in so late that I either had to stay up later or get up extra early to spend time writing the darn things.
