Great Click-Saving Firefox Add-on

  • For the past few weeks, I’ve been using a nifty little Firefox add-on called Drag & DropZones. It’s purpose is to save you clicks by making available to you many of the things you find in your context menu or the menu bar itself.

Do you find yourself searching for that “Open link in new tab” in your context menu? I use that all the time, but instead of hunting for it, all I do now is click on the link and drag it over the super-imposed box that I’ve designated as “open link in new tab”. Dragging anything on the page that you’re on engages the add-on, so it’s always right there when you need it.

The screenshot may be a little hard to read, but basically what you’re seeing is several light blue tiles each designated as a specific zone. Each zone represents something you want it to represent: the aforementioned link, search Google or any search engine, and just about any other link accessible in your menus.

All you Firefox users, install it now and be more productive.

LOL.. I was actually rather confused by your picture so I had to go to the plugin page to see what it is all about and even then I don’t get it :)

Maybe I should just try it out ;)

    • Yeah, sorry about that. I used one of the shots from the download page. The default color is a little too subtle for me. But the good news is that you can change it. :)

    Didn’t you have commentluv?

    • Yes, I did, but ever since I switched themes, I haven’t decided to bring it back. I wanted to see if its absence might speed things up a bit.

Hi Mark – I am a big fan of time savers. So I’ll try this. Though I’ve been using Chrome a lot lately because Firefox has been slow – maybe I also need to clean up my Addons. I perfer Firefox but it keeps getting stuck.

I’m a fan of learning keyboard shortcuts myself – I try to remind myself once in a while to do it because its so well worth it. I use Control T for new tabs all the time, but I tend to use my moues for other things which do have shortcuts which I haven’t learned – duh! Anyway I will try this addon out – thanks!!

    • Glad to know you’re going to give it a try. I’m using it a lot these days and since I’ve changed the color it really makes a difference.

Stick with those keyboard shortcuts. It’s the only to browse. :)
