Drummin’ Up Some Link Love #33

  • Drummin' Up Some Link Love #33Let’s start with a joke, shall we?

Little Nancy was in the garden filling in a hole when her neighbor peered over the fence. Interested in what the little girl was up to, he politely asked, “What are you up to there, Nancy?”

“My goldfish died,” replied Nancy tearfully, without looking up, “and I’ve just buried him.”

The neighbor was concerned, “That’s an awfully big hole for a goldfish, isn’t it?”

Nancy patted down the last heap of earth and then replied, “That’s because he’s inside your stupid cat.”

Do You Think Bloggers Are Journalists?

One thing I absolutely love about being a blogger is the autonomy. No word counts. No editorial mandate. No rules. However, as blogs continue to grow as a seriously influential medium, do bloggers need to hold themselves to a higher standard?

    Awareness Test

Note from Mark: This is only a video clip, so no text to associate it here. But you’ll be amazed at what you see and what you don’t.

My Sony Vaio VGN-SZ430N Hard Drive Crashed and How I Fixed It

I use my laptop a lot. I work all day and then I go home and work (and play) some more on my laptop. Sometimes, I go to sleep and my laptop is still running processes (I like to play with theoretical statistics and number crunching). I bought this Sony Vaio last April when my seven year old Dell’s drive finally bit the dust for good and I decided it was time to get a new laptop – one that wasn’t slower than my Windows Mobile cell phone.

How To Find Blog Content When You’re Out Of Ideas

Is your brain an empty vessel? Have you got a blog post to write? It happens to all of us eventually. Sometimes the drought may last only a couple of hours; at others it may last for days or weeks. When you’ve written thousands of blog posts, one day you’re bound to think: what will I write today? Luckily there are ways that you can find ideas for content that will be useful to your readers, even if they’re not that creative.

I too like the autonomy. I do what I want and for the most part, when I want. I just love seeing what drives traffic. As of today, for the first time ever, I have received over 1 million hits on my blog. Now these are over all hits, not unique visitors, but you have to admit that it is some kind of a milestone. We will have to see what I am at by the end of the month.

Another thing you linked to was “out of content.” If I am out of “topic” content then I don’t have a problem going with “off topic” content. it mixes it up and I think the readers kind of like that. I know some bloggers say not to do that, but that seems to be coming from the “make money online” crowd.

Thanks for the talking points Mark

I always enjoy your link love posts. The awareness test was cool considering I played basketball and am a cyclists (no I didn’t see the moonwalking bear, but I did get 13). Fun, fun…oh yeah, good resources for blogging too!
