Drummin’ Up Some Link Love #12
There has been no shortage of blogs worthy of attention this past week.
Matt posted not too long ago something about the WP plugin called Comment Relish. It sends an email to first-time commentors on your blog, thanking them for doing so. After posting a comment on his blog, I first thought, “How cool!” He gives a great case for why bloggers may want to use this method of interactivity.
Nirmal TV has quite a discussion going on about 3 Reasons Why I Don’t Like Gmail. What are you thoughts about Gmail? Personally, I love it!
The man with the funny rotating head at the top of his blog
has a good post about Scheduling and Organization for Productivity
You’ll find information Google Feedburner’s latest Pro offering to users of its service. What used to be for-pay, has now been made free. Go check it out!
Sublimely - Discovering Blogging
Interesting finds this blog has (hey, I sounded like Yoda, yes?). My favorite is a recent post about parody sites JohnCow.com (that’s “cow” not “chow”), and the iBlade.

Nice links. BTW, Yahoo is my personal favorite

Would that be Yahoo email you’re talking about?

Thanks for the mention! I believe that Comment Relish has helped bring people back to my blog as it serves as a reminder to my readers that I value their input. If you value your readership, then they are much more likely to return.

Yes, you’re correct. Sorry I didn’t mention that

Now here’s a guy that knows the importance of appreciating your readers. I like it
I think I’ll give the comment relish plugin a try. I’ve been itching for something new to install in Wordpress…lol.

The last link is indeed interesting. (Don’t I sound like Yoda?)
Mark | Jul 9, 2007 | Reply
Hi Grace, yeah, someone put a lot of work into the mockup of the iBlade.

Hehe…man, the “hints” you leave.
Mark | Jul 9, 2007 | Reply
That is a lively debate for sure. Good post!

Thanks for the Link Love, and also thanks for mentioning the spinning head. I have always been a little unsure if it offended people or not.

I like this idea of comment relish… Great tip! I will have to think up some fabulous email though - maybe a picture of my bear covered with relish as well… or maybe not that second part as I don’t want to frighten people! I will check this out!

You’re welcome, Adam!

Bear…relish…hmm
yeah, I’d scratch that idea and go with the cute and cuddly pink bear or something along those lines.

Mark, just followed you back here to see what you are up to and I was welcomed by your link.
Thanks man!
A little thought on the Comment Relish plugin from an active commenter. At first, it was nice to get an email from a blog acknowledging my comment. But, after I learnt about the plugin, I knew I was getting automated message and it just didn’t do it anymore.
If your blog readership is primarily other bloggers, they might end up feeling the same way once it becomes common knowledge like an email we receive after a tech support request. No human touch.
But, if your blog readership is primaily non-bloggers or receive a lot of search engine traffic, it is definitely a great add-on. But, nothing beats a personal comment to the commenter. Cheers.

Hey there, K-IntheHouse! Thanks for stopping by.
I see what you mean. I’ve read elsewhere that same sentiment.

I wrote a similar response to a Blog 3 project post against using the Comment Relish plugin..
I think it has its uses based on the readership and not to be totally ignored.
