Day Seven of Thanks
And now for my final installment of this series of giving thanks…
I just returned from chaperoning a party for a bunch of seventh graders. It amazes me how kids dance so, well, sluttily, to coin a term. And they’re perfectly fine with doing that in front of other adults looking right at them. I could be standing right next to them and it wouldn’t make a bit of difference in their bumping and grinding.
That probably makes me sound like an old fart, but I don’t care. I’m just saying it’s not right and it bugs me that they have no sense of morals. There are a great deal of other factors that I blame for this kind of behavior, but that’s for another post.
So what’s this got to do with me being thankful? I’m thankful my daughter doesn’t dance like that nor has the inclination to.

Thanks. Actually, I’ve been thinking about doing that.

Ah Mark,
I guess I am an “old fart” to because I just can’t stand the way people dance and that vulgar music they listen to with nothing but curse words just makes me cringe every time I hear it blasting out car windows when I am out and about. Nope, the morals and values have slipped a notch or two…..

Aaargh! No kidding. I think there’s a post in my future to discuss this topic more indepth. There’s one song in particular that they played at this party that really hit me the wrong way. The kids knew every word and danced right along with it. I felt like I was the only parent there that actually gave a darn.
