An Easy Way To Present A Collection Of Sites

  • I’ve mentioned the bookmarking service known as Diigo here before. I use it all the time to save my bookmarks as well as make backup copies to two additional bookmarking sites at the same time.

The folks at Diigo have gone one step further by introducing something called WebSlides. There are a variety of reasons why you can use this free service, but the one I’m going to use it for the most is to highlight sites that I find for my blog readers.

The presentations are simple to make. You select any site you’ve saved in your Diigo account and copy it to a WebSlides list. If you want, you can upload an audio file to accompany your set of slides as your viewers are watching. You can even leave comments or sticky notes on the sites for your viewers to read and they can do the same.

I’ve explained more in my own presentation, so click the button below and take it for a spin. (Btw, yes, that’s me narrating. :) )

    WebSlides

The sites I’ve included in this presentation are:

    Brown Thoughts
    Ordinary Folk
    Pink Internet Marketing
    ShanKri-la
    Revellian.com
    Kyle’s Cove
    Christy’s Coffee Break
    The Sapheyerblu Review
    Blog About Your Blog
    Garry Conn dot Com

That presentation was fantastic. The bias is obvious right? Haha. You sound good buddy, audio was crisp.

  3. While back I started using onlywire to be the one click to every bookmarking site. When I joined it, I joined all the bookmarking sites, one of them being Diigo.

That’s a very cool feature and felt very unobtrusive like some others I have seen and heard! Great job and thanks so much for including my site in this list! I am honored

  4. @Garry: woo-hoo! thanks for the praise and stumble. :)

@Baron: the audio quality did come across nice, I just need to work on my radio voice. ;)

@Bobby: glad you like it. I still have Onlywire sitting in my list of places to visit since you brought it to my attention. I’m just trying to work up the energy to create all those accounts.

That was totally great Mark! I’ve just recently started including recorded audio (like in the Super Link Sunday Batch #2 post)with some of my posts as an experiment. I think these things add an extra element to blogs and make them even more interesting. Well done, my friend!

    Shine on,
    Aaron

  8. Hi Mark,

Awesome! Glad that you are already making great use of WebSlides and found Diigo useful!

I’m in between sessions in DEMOFall conference in San Diego. Check this out: we have created a WebSlides for all the presenting companies at this conference and their alexa traffic charts. http://slides.diigo.com/list/techdude/demofall2007_alexa

Playing it allow you to quickly visit all the companies and see their latest Alexa ratings. Not just live webpages, note that you can annotate on those pages on the fly as well! Wouldn’t it be fun to use this to quickly check which company has generated the most buzz after the conference :-)

A new Diigo (and very powerful  ) will be forthcoming shortly, so stay tuned!

    cheers,

    Maggie

You need to get into podcasting. Couple your podcasts with your posts and things will really start to rock and roll for you. I can’t tell you how many times I wish my favorite blogs had a podcast. I have been toying around with doing this on my blog for awhile.

There is nothing better in life than being able to bang those drums in your favorite MP3 player while driving to work.

    :)

  10. Wow, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do!

    @Kyle: you’re most welcome!

@Christy: Yeah, that was me. Supermodel? Flattery will get you everywhere. ;)

@Aaron: thanks buddy! I’ll be sure to catch the next batch.

@Garry: podcasts? Hmm, I haven’t thought of that before. I’ll roam the Web to get an idea of how people do it and see how I can fit it in to what I do. My big conflict I’m sure would be to wait until my house quiets down. LOL

  11. @Maggie: hi there! Yep, ever since I heard about it I couldn’t wait for it to be officially released. And there’s a new, more powerful one on the way? Gimme gimme! :D

That is a very interesting feature. I’ll be adding this to my to do list. Thank you for blogging about it.

  13. @Rose: I’m glad you like it. It’s very easy and has a lot of uses.

    Hi,

Many of you probably have noticed – all the pages in WebSlides are live webpages, so content publishers definitely get the benefit of the traffic. Here are more reasons that you should start embedding WebSlides to your site http://slides.diigo.com/widget/feed

    cheers,

    Maggie
