All Aboard The Alexa Redirect Train

Alexa Redirect TrainMy friend, the Brown Baron of BrownThoughts, bought me a ticket on the Alexa Redirect Train. Destination: the city of Trafficopolis in the state of High Rankings. :) I encourage you to do the same on your own blog.

The purpose is to increase the traffic you receive as well as improve your Alexa ranking. Why Alexa? Well, it’s looked upon as an authority on blog rankings. And if you haven’t already decided to make money on your blog (or if you have) then having a decent Alexa ranking is good because advertisers like to advertise on blogs with a good (read: lower) ranking on Alexa.

All you need to do is copy this list, paste it into your blog, and add other blogs of your choosing. Don’t forget to click the links after posting!

Here’s my list:

  • Does Anyone Trust Alexa Anymore?: Earlier this year, my Alexa ranking had been going down fairly consistently (meaning getting better). Up until August, it got as low as 98,056. But...
  • Rankings Improving: Well, I’m not in the habit of bragging, but it appears to be an accepted practice to inform visitors of how well (or not so...
  • Feeding Others So You Can Be Fed: I’ve been thinking about posting a request to subscribe to my feed (the red button to the right). Then I found something on another blog...

  1. Thanks for the link! I like that train heh

  2. “choo-choooo”

  3. Hey Mark! A few people have included me in their lists with this, so I guess it’s about time I get in gear and give it a try on my sites ;P

Have you seen any kind of noticeable difference yet with your ranking?

  4. Hey buddy, well, I’m not sure. While my Alexa ranking has improved, I don’t know how to tell what the cause of it is. Could be the redirect trains like this, or it may be that I’m using the Alexa plugin for Firefox. I read over at DoshDosh that installing the plugin may help in some way. (don’t recall the details just now).

If you’d like me to send you that article from DoshDosh, let me know and I’ll take care of it tonight when I’m home. :)

  5. I’ll head over to Dosh’s and see if I can find it. I love reading the articles there :)

I’ll check out that plugin as well. I’ve already got a billion plugins with firefox. What’s one more?

  6. Does this actually work ?

  7. Hi Bob,

The train, you mean? Or the plugin? In either case, I wouldn’t really know how to gauge it, I’m sorry to say. Even though my Alexa ranking has improved on a weekly basis (sometimes twice a week) I honestly couldn’t tell you which method has influenced that, if at all.

Up until recently, I used the widget on my blogs as a way to tell visitors how the blog is doing. But I’ve decided to remove that in favor of a faster download and instead using the plugin to tell me the information I needed.

My guess is, however, that the train is only as good as the persons who remember to click on the redirecting links. Just like the feed trains, people may post them, but forget to actually subscribe to what they’ve posted. I wish there was a way to actually track that.

  8. Hello,
Would you mind adding me to the list? My blog is My Word at http://mwyn.org/mw. I would really apperciate it. Also, I got you e-mail and comments and everything was changed correctly.
Question though, I’m not sure but I don’t think you have sent me a link like I did for you. I believe thats the deal, a link for a link. I’m not angry it’s just I’m giving you a link and am subscribing to your feed and just want to make sure you are doing the same for me.

  9. Hi Michael, thanks for making the correction to my link.

I’ll be sure to add a link to your’s as well.

  10. Thanks so much!

  11. You’re very welcome, Michael. :)
