A Review On Paid Post Sites - PayPerPost

Over the past few months, I’ve written posts that have been sponsored by the likes of PayPerPost, SponsoredReviews, Bloggerwave, and Smorty. I thought it was time to write a review about them, so over the next few days I’ll be posting about each.

PayPerPostPayPerPost
The granddaddy of this line-up, this is the one that has paid me the most overall. They have a lot of opportunities to choose from, but it’s the quality of the selection that bothers me the most. I remain firm in my decision to only take opportunities that have some relevance to my blog and what I like to write about. If you don’t follow this philosophy, then you’re likely to earn even more income.

I like the immediacy of choosing an opportunity. As long as it’s available and your blog qualifies, then you can nab it.

The amount you can earn for each post varies from $5.00 and upwards of $20.00, on average. That’s one of the things I like most about PPP because you know the price you’re looking at is what you’re going to get as opposed to other services that take a cut. Not that I’m against them taking a cut, but as you’ll see in a future post, SponsoredReviews has a minimum bid of $5 of which, because of their cut, you get only $3.25. Who wants to write a post for three bucks?

What I don’t like about PayPerPost
The downside to PPP, IMHO, is that sometimes they’re a little too strict with their rules. For example, you can’t have two paid-for posts next to each other. Plus, it takes them so long to review the posts you’ve written and the payout is once a month. I guess that’s better than waiting for it to reach a large amount before payout.

Another is that you end up seeing the same old opportunities, or the really good ones are sitting there right before you, but you can’t take them because their allotment has already been reached or your blog doesn’t qualify. At least you can benchmark the advertiser from your list to help cut down on the clutter.

Take my advice
As with any service like this, you may be tempted with taking an opportunity because of the compensation being offered. The advice you hear most often is to write about things that are relevant to your blog, so maybe a little willpower is in order when trying to choose an opportunity to write about.

If they email you about a post, DO NOT reply to that email. I found out the hard way. I wrote a post that they rejected and told me so in the email. I had three days to make a correction and still get paid. I didn’t read the part telling me not to reply to the email, so the response I was waiting on never came, and I lost the opportunity to get paid. Aaarggh! Oh well, live and learn.

  1. I was earning pretty well on PayPerPost until they introduced that six hour window to write a post. Now I haven’t been able to snag anything in over a month. I don’t have the time to sit there and constantly refresh their site hoping one of the grayed out opps becomes available again.

I’m liking Sponsored Reviews so far though. Since getting my blog rankings updated and finally having some bids accepted I can see the potential to make much more money. The average payout for the bids I’ve had accepted so far is $22.75 ($35 before Sponsored Reviews fee). That could go up as well if some of the other bids I made are approved.

  2. Yeah, SR is pretty decent…when you get an advertiser to respond. Sadly, (as I’ll report later), I fear there are just too many blogs competing to get much notice. Guess I’ll have to take another look at my blog descriptions to see if they need freshening up.

  3. Great review!!

I’ve been having incredible luck with payperpost. I tend to just end up logging in at the right times and snagging enough decent jobs. Once you write a lot (somewhere between fifty and a hundred) reviews they automatically accept many of the reviews you submit. It’s either based on the number accepted or quality of the posts I’m not sure which. So that cuts down on the waiting time. There’s a lot of competition, but I find that with every company. I also like the fact that they have a community! They do make PPP fun. :)

  4. Thanks! You definitely are cashing in on PPP and so good at it. ;) My experience with PPP has been with my other blog, and I’m two posts shy of being allowed to submit this blog to be added to my account. When that happens, it’ll open me up for the other opportunities for sure.

Good to know that they get better about approving as one starts proving themselves as worthy reviewers.

  5. Great post I am looking to get invoved with these companies. So who takes the cake PPP or SR?

  6. @Larry
Welcome to MeAndMyDrum! Well, right now I’d say it would be PPP because the bids I’m leaving on SR just aren’t being picked up by the merchants. I have something like 90+ pending bids, some are months old. But then PPP has a lot of their opportunities taken most of the time I login.
