3 Firefox Add-Ons You Must Check Out
MeasureIt sits comfortably in the lower-left corner of your browser. If you ever want to find the dimensions of something on a Web page, just click on it to freeze the page you’re on allowing you to click-and-drag an area to see, in real-time, the dimensions of that area. Comes in very handy when you want to create an image that you want to fit perfectly.
Better GReader is something I found on LifeHacker. Since I’ve been using Google Reader for a few weeks, it caught my attention. This thinga-ma-bob display a tiny RSS icon in the upper right corner of the Web page you’re viewing. If you’ve subscribed to that site’s feed, a shadowy checkmark will appear over it. If not, then you can easily click on it to subscribe to the feed in Google Reader. This helps me to remember to subscribe to a site that I like or confirms that I already have.
Remove It Permanently. What a lifesaver this one is. This let’s you remove annoying content on Web pages you visit. Particularly useful if it’s a site you visit regularly. It can hide frames, ads, graphics — practically anything you can select. Right-click on the offending item to call up your context menu. As you rollover the choices in that menu, the area in question flashes a red border around that content. You can either choose to remove something from one page, the entire site, or even similar content.

MeasureIt sounds like a useful tool. I’m always happy when I get to add another extension

Remove it Permanently sounds semi serious! But in regards to my own page, I would probably permanently remove my giant ugly header! Ha ha ha!

If you thought Measure It was good, you’ll love this one:
MAP THIS
“This extension will let you get a Google map for any address on a webpage. Just select the address, right-click and choose “Map This”. Also, you can set your home location in the preferences, and choose “Map To This” to get driving directions.”

I know what you mean. It’s just like Christmas.

Yeah, it’s pretty useful. I’ve used it on sites to remove the header as well. I don’t care much for animated images that are in continuous loop. So I nixed it and it went away and gave me more real estate on the page.

All of your great finds are so helpful! I’m using IE right now but you give me good reason to switch back to Firefox. I already have FF on my computer, I just never use it. But now, maybe I should, and I definitely need these add-ons!!

Hi Tay, I was just visiting your blog.
Yeah, Firefox is the only browser for me. I use IE only when I have too (like paying bills on some sites). I think you’ll be pleased with it, there’s so much you can do.

MeasureIt is awesome. I’ve been using that one for a while now. It’s probably one of the handiest plugins I’ve ever used

I had a feeling — being the artist that you are — that you might be using this one already.

Another reason to not use IE is that IE is connected to the Windows shell. If IE gets infected, you’ll most likely have a deep virus infection.

Well… I’m proud to say, I’m back on Firefox! It was over a year and a half ago that I was using Firefox and Firefox only. I guess IE was just more handy to me, with it being already installed and every website accepting it. I’m the lazy type. But I’m back on Firefox, I have all my bookmarks back, and I got the RIP and MeasureIt add-ons. I’m very pleased with using Firefox again. Thanks for inadvertently inspiring me to switch back.

Hi William — darnit, for some reason this went to my spam queue. Glad to have been able to retrieve it.
Thanks for that extra tip. I like things that help close the gap between desire to do something and getting the job done.
